Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Gonzalez-Collins, an Mexican-American sportscaster. She works at ESPN as a news anchor for SportsCenter as well as occasionally hosting SportsNation. She started working at ESPN in the year of 2016. She is the child of journalists on TV Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta is bilingual since her age of nine. Her abilities were crucial in helping her land her first position as production assistant for Univision Miami at which time she collaborated with producers of programs including Nuestra Belleza Latina and Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. A CBS subsidiary that is located in St. Petersburg hired her after this as reporters for sports. She relocated to Rio Grande Valley in 2009 to work as a reporter on KNVO TV 48 Univision. Spanish channel KNVO TV 48 Univision, as well as Fox2 News. In reporting on news stories related to immigration and drug trafficking both along the Texas and Mexico border, she worked as a news reporter on the Spanish channel KNVO TV48 Univision, as well as Fox2 News. She also filled in anchors for sports and weather. Then she anchor and wrote at Univision's Dallas affiliate Deportes 23 where she was granted more responsibilities. She covered The Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series, the Dallas Cowboys as well as the NBA Postseasons as well as the Finals FC Dallas FC Dallas Stars. She also produced Univision 23's local sports program Accion Deportiva Extra, on which she was the anchor. She was promoted as anchor of the sports segment for Despierta America Deportes' morning show. The anchor also worked in a similar as a reporter for the magazine program Primer Impacto and for UniMas Network's Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta's parents were originally from Veracruz Mexico. The family moved to Mexico City where she was born on the 22nd of November in 1985. There is also a sister. In 1992, the family left Mexico and moved to Miami. In 1992, her parents split following which, in the year 1995 she married Fabio Fajardo who was an engineer in the naval sector who died in 2006 from kidney cancer. She stayed there in Canton Ohio with her older sister throughout the summer which was the time she received an opportunity to work. Antonietta was a senior in high school with an idea of what she wanted her future to be like, travelled to Mount Union University to check whether the university was suitable for her. As it turned out she loved the school and they had the program she wanted. After graduating from school, she was enrolled in the university to study media studies. Her instructor Mark Bergmann, who managed WRMU FM and was a part of her class, developed a lasting relationship with the student. His passion for journalism and the confidence she had in herself encouraged her. She, in turn attempted to live up to his expectations and never fall short of his expectations.
